Hey! Thats me! I've been a lot of things in my thirty-some odd-years of life and Humble adds "wannabe baker" to that list! I prefer "self-taught baking enthusiast". I struggle to even call myself a baker because there is SO MUCH to learn and even though I've been chasing this hobby-turned-hustle for over two years, I still basically know nothing, other than how to make a few decent loaves of bread that somehow friends and family convinced me to sell. For real money. To strangers - but hopefully we'll be friends soon!

Other than that I love people. Especially the ones in the Martinez community. My family has lived here since 2012 - so we’ll still be new in town for another twenty years when you compare us to the multi-generational families who make this community so special! When we first landed in our little bungalow downtown we thought it’d be a starter home, but I think it's safe to say we’ll be in Martinez for a very long time! Humble gives me a way to learn about my neighbors, their families, their hopes, their dreams and hardships.  In the words of the good doctor and TED Talk extraordinaire, Brené Brown:

"What we know is that connection, the ability to feel connected...it's why we're here."

And that's why I wanted to start this little bread operation - to give you a reason break (better) bread - with your family, friends and community members. I wouldn't have taken this gluten rich leap of faith if it wasn't for the love and kindness of those who've enjoyed my bread over the years. And if you still haven’t tried it yet, I can't wait until I can share a loaf with you too.

Stay humble,
Justin
